Cheung Chau Island
As the name suggests, Cheung Chau means "long island," and its dumbbell-like shape makes it one of the most popular outlying islands among visitors. A ferry ride from Central, Hong Kong Island, takes about 40 to 60 minutes.
The island is picturesque, and the area around the pier and waterfront is bustling with activity, with numerous shops and stalls selling meat, seafood, fruits, and vegetables. On weekends, local restaurants and food stalls are packed with visitors.
