Hong Kong Lantau North Country Park

Lantau North Country Park (designated on August 18, 1978, and expanded on November 7, 2008) is a country park located in the northern part of Lantau Island, Hong Kong, covering an area of 2,200 hectares. The park extends from the southern part of Sha Lo Wan in the north to South Lantau Country Park in the south, from Mui Wo in the east to Yat Tsim Kok in the west, and includes areas such as the northern parts of Tai Tung Shan, Yi Tung Shan, Lantau Peak, Nei Lak Shan, and the region north of Ngong Ping. The Tai Tung Shan Special Area is located within Lantau North Country Park.

In recent years, the northern part of Lantau North Country Park has been developed into the Tung Chung New Town and the Lantau North (Tung Chung) Road. At either end of the park, you’ll find Lantau Peak and Nei Lak Shan—Lantau Peak stands at 766 meters. About one kilometer to the north, there are three neatly aligned peaks commonly known as “Three Peaks Platform.” From the eastern side, you can overlook the entire Mui Wo area, while to the north, you can gaze at Tai Ho Wan and the Lantau North Road, with several nearby small islands resembling little sailboats floating on the sea.

Compared to South Lantau Country Park, Lantau North Country Park is relatively less expansive and offers fewer hiking facilities. Hiking is the main activity in the park, with the Tai Tong Tsai Country Trail located in the northern part, stretching from Tung Chung Road to Tai Tong Tsai.

Transportation: To reach Lantau Island, you can take a ferry from Pier 6 in Central, Hong Kong. Ferries are available in both slow and fast services. After arriving at Mui Wo Ferry Pier, you can take the New Lantau Bus to other destinations.
