Lantau South Country Park (designated on April 20, 1978) is a country park in Hong Kong, covering an area of 5,640 hectares, making it the largest in the territory. The park encompasses the southern part of Lantau Island, bordering Lantau North Country Park to the north. The Phoenix Mountain Special Area and Tai Tung Shan Special Area are both located within Lantau South Country Park.

Lantau South Country Park includes areas such as Chi Ma Wan Peninsula, Shek Kok Peninsula, the southern slopes of Tai Tung Shan, Yi O, Fan Lau, Man Cheung Po, Ling Kok Shan, Shek Pik, and the Nga Tsin Wai area. Notable attractions include the Fan Lau Fort and the Chi Ma Wan Stone Forest. Among them, hiking up Phoenix Mountain to watch the sunrise is a must-do activity for many visitors.

Lantau South Country Park offers many fascinating destinations. The two mountain peaks in the southern part of Lantau Island—Phoenix Mountain and Tai Tung Shan—are particularly striking. Phoenix Mountain stands at 934 meters tall, and the journey there features undulating hills and stunning natural scenery. The southern part of Lantau Island is shielded by the mountain ranges of Phoenix Mountain and Tai Tung Shan, and due to its orientation facing south, the climate here is mild. From the Ngong Ping Plateau, visitors can enjoy views of Shek Pik Reservoir, where the interplay of lake and mountain scenery is truly uplifting.

The natural water systems of Lantau Island form a distinct radial pattern. Historical records show that hundreds of years ago, villagers had already built crisscrossing stone paths in the mountains. Most of these surviving stone paths have now become popular hiking trails loved by outdoor enthusiasts. The Lantau Trail is a top choice for hikers seeking a challenge. Stretching across both Lantau North and Lantau South Country Parks, it is divided into twelve sections with a total length of 70 kilometers. The trail starts and ends in Mui Wo, taking hikers through undulating terrain with breathtaking natural views along the way. Chi Ma Wan Peninsula is located at the southeastern tip of Lantau Island and can be reached via a hiking trail from Pui O Beach through Mong Tung Wan. The peninsula features large forested areas, and hikers may spot colorful butterflies along the way, making it a veritable haven of birdsong and floral scents. From here, visitors can also admire the scenic views of Shek Kwu Chau and Cheung Chau, as well as the coastal bays and beaches along the shoreline.
