Datong Chunyang Palace is a cultural relics protection unit of Shanxi Province.

The Datong Chunyang Palace scenic area is located on Gulou West Street in Datong. It derives its name from enshrining the Taoist deity Lü Dongbin, also known as Chunyang. Established in the late Jin and early Yuan dynasties, it was renovated in the fourth year of the Hongwu era during the Ming dynasty. It is the only existing complete Quanzhen Taoist temple in the city and holds significant influence in Datong and northern Shanxi. It is recognized as a municipal-level key cultural relics protection unit. The palace faces south and was entirely constructed following the rituals and layout of the Quanzhen sect. Its floor plan consists of three courtyards, with main structures including the Mountain Gate, Lingguan Hall, Ancestral Master Hall, Offering Hall, and Sanqing Hall. On both sides are arranged, in sequence, the Bell and Drum Towers, Sanguan Hall, Nainai Temple, side halls, and east and west wing rooms, all housing exquisite statues and murals. The western section of the main courtyard is a garden-style architectural complex. The entire Taoist temple combines the solemn magnificence of religious architecture with the delicate beauty of gardens. Along the central axis, there are three major halls, flanked by Bell and Drum Towers and side halls to the east and west. The scenery here changes with the seasons—lush greenery in spring, blooming flowers in summer, ripe fruits in autumn, and evergreen vitality in winter. Especially on midsummer nights, sitting in the hexagonal pavilion called Tingyu Pavilion, one can enjoy the view, play chess, or strum the guqin, feeling as if in a paradise on earth, making it hard to leave. The overall architectural design is novel, with a clever and compact layout. Pavilions, towers, corridors, and waterside gazebos are arranged in an intricate yet serene manner, offering tranquility and elegance. It is a three-courtyard complex that integrates the solemnity of a temple with the refinement of a garden.

In 2016, Datong Chunyang Palace was included in the fifth batch of cultural relics protection units of Shanxi Province.
