Plover Cove Country Park is located in the northeastern part of the New Territories. Established in 1978, it covers an area of 4,594 hectares. The terrain is surrounded by sea on three sides with overlapping mountain ranges in the center, and it borders the uniquely rugged Pat Sin Leng Country Park to the west. Whether under the radiant sunshine of a clear day or amid the light drizzle and mist of early spring, picturesque scenes reminiscent of traditional Chinese ink paintings effortlessly unfold before your eyes.

Covering a vast area, Plover Cove Country Park boasts a naturally diverse ecosystem of flora and fauna. Common wildlife species include porcupines, ferret-badgers, pangolins, leopard cats, and red-bellied tree squirrels. A wide variety of bird species also inhabit the park, with records indicating that the Indian Cuckoo and the Red-winged Crested Cuckoo have been spotted in Ap Chau and Lai Chi Wo within the park, respectively. The park’s most treasured inhabitants are its diverse butterflies, with many newly discovered rare species found here. The park’s geological features are equally fascinating, including Double Haven, Bride’s Pool Waterfall, Drum Rock on Tung Ping Chau, Pak Sha Tau Tsui, Wang Chau, and Lung Lok Shui — all are well worth a visit.

Plover Cove Country Park offers a range of facilities for public enjoyment, among which the Tai Mei Tuk BBQ site is the most popular. Conveniently accessible and located near the main dam of Plover Cove Reservoir, it provides visitors with the delightful experience of enjoying the scenery atop the dam after a satisfying meal.
