Ping Shek Tin Hau Ancient Temple

Ping Shek Tin Hau Ancient Temple is the largest Tin Hau temple in the North District of Hong Kong’s New Territories, located at Shui Liu Hang, Ping Shek, Ta Kwu Ling. Built in the 21st year of the Qianlong reign during the Qing Dynasty (1756), the temple has undergone multiple renovations, with the most recent one taking place in 1976.

Ping Shek Tin Hau Ancient Temple follows a three-bay, two-courtyard design, with the central courtyard area having been modified into a worship hall on all four sides. The main hall enshrines the Goddess Tin Hau, the left side hall enshrines Lady Golden Flower, and the right side hall enshrines the Earth God. In addition, there are connected buildings on both sides of the temple: the Shing Ping Shek Ancestral Hall and the Ping Shek Public Hall. Artifacts within the temple include a wooden clapper board made in the 5th year of the Yongzheng reign (1727) and a bronze bell cast in the 21st year of the Qianlong reign (1756).
