Ancient City of Wulabo

The Ancient City of Wulabo is a National Key Cultural Relics Protection Unit.

The Ancient City of Wulabo is located by Wulabo Lake, about 10 kilometers southwest of the city. The ruins sit at an altitude of 1,100 meters and are roughly square-shaped, measuring 550 meters from north to south and 450 meters from east to west. The perimeter of the city exceeds 2 kilometers. The city walls are tall and thick, with remnants standing up to 4 meters high and a base width of 5 meters. The four corners of the city wall and the city gates all protrude outward.

The city gates are all located in the central part of each side. The urban area is divided into three sections: three small forts in the northeast, northwest, and southwest. The barbican, watchtowers, and corner towers of the city are exceptionally large, and there are also external observation holes in the middle section of the city walls. Judging from its grand engineering construction and military facilities, it was clearly a site of significant military importance, serving as a garrison for troops at the military level.

The ancient city dates back over a thousand years. Some believe it to be Luntai City from the Tang Dynasty. Cultural relics from the Liao and Yuan dynasties, such as pottery jars, pottery basins, lotus-patterned square bricks, ancient coins, and jade artifacts, have been discovered on the site. It is now listed as a Key Cultural Relics Protection Unit of the Autonomous Region.
