Golden waves of silver grass blanket the mountainsides—ten must-hike trails for the ultimate autumn delight!

Taoyuan Valley Trail
Stepping into Taoyuan Valley, you’re greeted by vast green meadows and sweeping vistas. Located atop the mountain ridge where land meets sea, Taoyuan Valley sits on a plateau at 500 meters above sea level, offering distant views of Guishan Island. With blue seas and emerald mountains, the picturesque scenery is simply enchanting. Overlooking the vast Pacific Ocean and Guishan Island, the grassland landscape harmonizes with the ocean and sky, resembling a paradise on earth—hence the name “Taoyuan Valley.”

Jinkouli Boulevard
Jinkouli Boulevard (also known as Fish Road Ancient Trail) is located in Jinshan District, New Taipei City. It was once the essential route for fishermen from Jinkouli (Jinshan) to transport their catch to places like Dadaocheng. The trail stretches from Dingbayan Station on Yangjin Highway to Lengshuiping, featuring some of the most culturally rich and ecologically preserved sections of the ancient path. Every autumn, areas such as Xiaoyoukeng, Datun Mountain Summit, Lengshuiping, Qingtiangang, and Jinkouli Boulevard are graced with seas of silvery white silvergrass.

Datun Main Peak Trail
Datun West Peak lies between South Peak and Miantian Mountain, at an elevation of 1,092 meters. From its lofty vantage point, you’ll see towering boulders and steep mountain ridges. Climbing it requires some effort, whereas South Peak has a rounder shape, extending southward through Zhongzheng Mountain to Xinzhuangbei. It's a popular ridge hiking route. As a conical volcano, it offers an exceptional spot to watch the sunset and admire autumn silvergrass. After mid-October, the silvergrass blooms vigorously, swaying like majestic waves. Additionally, Datun Main Peak provides stunning panoramic views of the sun setting over the Taipei Basin.
