A news report from Taiwan’s Central News Agency on January 19 stated that a group of 12 hikers had gone to climb the main peak of Snow Mountain in Taiwan. A 33-year-old man surnamed Shen slipped and fell into a valley, resulting in an open fracture of his left lower leg. The search and rescue center's helicopter rescued him around noon on the 19th.
The Taichung City Fire Bureau reported that they received a call around 8 a.m. on the 19th. The group of 12 hikers had entered the mountain on the 17th. While climbing the main peak of Snow Mountain that day, the man surnamed Shen slipped and fell about 100 meters below the 10.6-kilometer mark from the main peak, sustaining an open fracture of his left lower leg.
After receiving the report, the fire bureau immediately dispatched six rescuers to the mountain and requested helicopter assistance. As the weather in the mountainous area was clear with good visibility that day, the helicopter located the stranded hiker surnamed Shen around 11 a.m. and transported him to Chiayi Shuishang Airport before he was sent to the hospital. The rescue mission was successfully completed.
