Yanbulaq Ancient Tombs

The Yanbulaq Ancient Tombs are a National Key Cultural Relics Protection Unit.

Introduction The Yanbulaq Ancient Tombs are located in Yanbulaq Village, Liushuquan Farm, Hami City, Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, covering an area of 8,000 square meters. They represent the most significant Bronze Age burial site in eastern Xinjiang, dating back approximately 4,000 years.

The tombs are spread across two earthen mounds running from northwest to southeast, leaving no obvious surface marks. The tomb structures mainly include vertical pit graves and vertical pit graves with earthen benches. Burial positions are either flexed or extended. Grave goods primarily consist of pottery, stone tools, wooden artifacts, bronze ware, ironware, gold items, bone objects, and wool textiles. The painted patterns on the pottery resemble those of the Siwa and Xindian cultures from Gansu region.
