The Camel Hump Scenic Area is a national AA-level tourist attraction.

The Camel Hump Scenic Area is a national 2A-level scenic spot, situated in the city center by the Kran River. With a vertical height of 150 meters, the mountain face that fronts the river is imposing, steep, and rugged. Reaching the summit provides an expansive view of Altay’s urban scenery, making it an ideal spot for hiking, mountaineering, and exploration. When it comes to Camel Peak, simply find the right vantage point — stand in the central square of the city, face the mountain, and you’ll see a camel straining upward, striving to reach the summit. Its open mouth, lofty head, raised humps, and determined expression are strikingly vivid.

On this mountain, traces of early human activity can often be found — such as petroglyphs that have withstood weathering and erosion. These carvings, spread across 8,000 square meters of cliffs at altitudes between 920 and 1,000 meters, depict over 20 scenes reflecting ancient human life, hunting, and archery. In recent years, plant fossils such as ancient grass leaves have also been discovered on these cliffs, indicating that this mountain was formed during the Jurassic orogeny.
