Wuziqilike River Source National Wetland Park

Wuziqilike River Source National Wetland Park is a national-level wetland park.

Wuziqilike National Wetland Park

The Kran River is known as the Mother River of Altay, flowing ceaselessly to nourish the region. At the park’s core, the pristine glacial meltwater originates from its source, rushing and swirling — some flowing into lakes, gathering in wetlands, passing through forests, seeping into grasslands, emerging as open streams, or flowing unseen beneath stones — the frothy waters joyfully converge again at the mountain pass.

Wuziqilike Wetland Park is located in the middle section of the Altay Mountains, geographically positioned between 88°00′ to 88°38′ east longitude and 48°18′ to 47°56′ north latitude.

It covers a total area of 110,188 hectares.

The wetland park includes various types such as marsh rivers, lakes, and other wetland forms; there are subalpine wetlands and scattered glacier cirques on the shady slopes of high mountains. Large areas of typical peat wetlands, the most representative features of Wuziqilike Wetland, are very rare both within Xinjiang and across China, holding high value for education, academic research, and wetland tourism.

Rich Flora and Fauna Resources

The wetland park boasts abundant flora and fauna. According to field surveys and regional scientific data, a total of 968 species of higher plants have been recorded within and around the wetland park.

These belong to 81 families, 385 genera, with representative plants including Siberian larch, Siberian fir, warted birch, European mountain ash, as well as alpine willow, small-leaved birch, honeysuckle, elderberry, raspberry, and caragana, among others. The number of vascular plants is countless, reaching over a thousand species.
