Driftwood Dam

Introduction At the northernmost inlet of Kanas Lake, there is a kilometer-long driftwood dam. During the flood season, the river carries a large amount of driftwood from upstream into the lake inlet. Later, due to the strong valley wind that changes direction after hitting the massive mountain to the south of Kanas Lake, the wind pushes the driftwood floating in the water upstream. Over time, this gradually accumulates at the lake inlet, forming a dam that is over a hundred meters wide and two kilometers long, with driftwood crisscrossing in all directions. These driftwood pieces float up and down with the rise and fall of the water.
