Turkish Airlines reportedly to launch direct flights between 'Taipei and Istanbul'   set to debut next spring

Will it be possible to fly directly from Taipei to Istanbul starting next spring? Turkish Airlines, which plans to open a direct route between Taipei and Istanbul, has reportedly announced that it will offer three weekly non-stop flights starting next spring. Both Civil Aeronautics Administration Director Shen Chi and Turkish Airlines have stated that the matter is still under negotiation.

Istanbul is Turkey’s largest city and port, and a key junction between East and West. Flights to destinations such as Kazakhstan, Athens, and Egypt only take 1 to 2 hours, making it highly convenient for business travelers.

Last year, Turkish Airlines launched a route via Hong Kong to Istanbul, which received positive feedback. Recently, there have been market rumors that the Taipei-Istanbul direct flight route will open as early as March next year. In response, the Taiwanese branch of Turkish Airlines stated that establishing a direct flight between the two cities has always been their goal, but it is still under negotiation and no specific timetable has been set. Director Shen Chi also noted that they are actively discussing the air service agreement, and once the route is launched, it will be a significant advantage for many business travelers heading to Central Asia and Eastern Europe.
