So dreamy！Turkish photographer shows you a colorful Istanbul!

Cityscapes always leave the first impression on travelers. Hong Kong’s dense high-rises convey that hurried pace, while the dark-hued buildings evoke a sense of gloom. What aboutTurkey—what impression do you have? Lots of mosques? Buildings dominated by Arabic patterns?

That has been my perception all along, but after seeing the photos of 32-year-old designer and photographer Yener Torun, I realized thatTurkeyalso has many vibrantly colored buildings. Having lived inIstanbulsince he was 14, he hopes others can see a differentIstanbulthrough his photos. So two years ago, he began sharing online pictures he took of the colorful buildings and those focused on geometric compositions.

Open his Instagram, and you’ll find nothing but minimalist lines and vibrant colors. Using color contrasts and light-shadow play, he creates stunning images—his account now has over 140,000 followers. But taking these photos is no easy feat. SinceIstanbul’s buildings are mostly gray and black, when he finds an interesting spot, he stays there for several days to observe lighting and shadow effects. Sometimes he even invites friends to model for him. Each photo is truly the fruit of Yener Torun’s hard work!
