The harbor city transforms into a romantic Christmas wonderland! From the urban districts to the coastal and mountainous areas, the festive atmosphere is rich. Department stores such as Dream Mall, Big City Taipei, and Hanshin Dome feature captivating Christmas installations. The Hamasen Christmas Cultural Festival, paired with “Kaohsiung Celebrates the New Year,” invites the God of Wealth to hand out red envelopes, while the Liouguei Christmas Carnival takes place at the newly opened Baolai Hot Spring Park, drawing large crowds of visitors.

The Tourism Bureau invested NT$40 million to build the Baolai Flower Viewing Hot Spring Park, which opened on the 23rd and hosted a Christmas carnival. Visitors flocked in early to enjoy free foot and hand spas. Kaohsiung Mayor Chen Chu said in her opening speech that Typhoon Morakot severely damaged the Baolai Hot Springs. After years of effort by the local community and the city government, central government subsidies were secured, and new hot springs were discovered, which are expected to attract more visitors to Liouguei.

The Hamasen Christmas Cultural Festival, in collaboration with the Bureau of Economic Development, uses the “Kaohsiung Celebrates the New Year” app to summon the God of Wealth to distribute red envelopes. During the three-day holiday on the 23rd, 24th, and New Year’s Day, shoppers spending over NT$100 can enter a lucky draw to win big prizes. The Urban Development Bureau has also set up the interactive Christmas installation art “The Christmas Sloth Won’t Light Up” at “Box.” The Christmas Ride City event on the 23rd and 24th combines bicycle performance shows, markets, workshops, and lucky draws.

Dream Mall’s “Love Sharing” Christmas event features 15 themed light zones, including the Statue of Liberty and the Empire State Building, making visitors feel as if they are on the streets of New York. The over 12-meter-tall Christmas tree standing in the square resembles a skyscraper, showcasing fashionable and creative light shows every night from 6 to 9 p.m.

Big City Taipei has created Taiwan’s first “Christmas Elf Village.” From the 21st, for four consecutive days, there will be nearly 100 Christmas market stalls and song and dance performances. A starry night Christmas snowflake show is launched every hour to create a snowy atmosphere, along with what is claimed to be Taiwan’s tallest interactive light雕塑 Christmas tree, making visitors feel as if they are in a Christmas elf village.

Hanshin Dome has built a Christmas Dream House on the first floor, becoming a popular photo spot for influencers, and is further enhanced by the presence of the “Minions.” On the 23rd and 24th, there will be a Christmas Good Soldier Friends Market and a gramophone orchestra concert. In the evening, visitors are invited to watch the “Despicable Me” movie series for free, spending a warm holiday.
