Rowan Valley

Introduction: Rowan Valley stretches 1.2 kilometers in length. Along both sides of the valley, besides dense mixed forests of thorny birch, Siberian spruce, and Siberian larch, it is also the most concentrated habitat of Siberian rowan, hence the name.

The Siberian rowan is a small tree of the genus Sorbus in the Rosaceae family. It is found only in the upper reaches of the Burqin River in China and prefers to grow under mixed forests of spruce and fir. With its elegant tree shape and straight posture, as well as large, feathery compound leaves that offer high ornamental value, it is visually striking. In spring, the tree is covered with fragrant white blossoms, while in autumn, its fruits ripen into bright red. The fruits of the Siberian rowan serve as food for many bird species. Due to its significant economic and ecological value, it has been listed in the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region’s Level III Key Protected Plants list.
