Jiadengyu

Introduction The name "Jiadengyu" means "Jiadeng's house" in Mongolian. It serves as a model base for forest conservation and afforestation in Burqin County. Currently, it has over 80 acres of nurseries, primarily cultivating seedlings of spruce, Siberian larch, Schrenk spruce, and Scots pine. Due to the high-altitude and cold climate, the growing period for plants is long—spruce seedlings that have grown for 8 years are only 40–50 cm tall. Spruce seedlings generally require 7–8 years to cultivate, while larch needs at least 4 years, and Scots pines that have grown for 14 years are only about 80 cm tall. These seedlings are mainly used to restore the local forest vegetation. At present, the state has implemented a Natural Forest Protection Program, and logging has been completely banned in the Altai Mountains. For seasonal forest clearing each year, a "cut one, plant ten" policy is enforced.

Jiadengyu is the gateway to Kanas and serves as the transportation hub leading to Kanas Lake Scenic Area. It has now been developed into the main base for tourism reception and management in Kanas, situated at an altitude of 1,600 meters.
