Khunur Tuvan Village
Tuvan Village is located 2–3 kilometers south of Kanas Lake in the Kanas River Valley of the Altay region, Xinjiang. Surrounded by picturesque mountains and clear waters, it boasts beautiful scenery and is the essential route from Burqin County to Kanas Lake. The village sits at an elevation of 1,390 meters.
The residents of Kanas Tuvan Village are Tuvans who identify as Mongolian. Their ancestors migrated from Siberia 500 years ago and belong to the same ethnic group as the Tuvans of the Republic of Tuva in present-day Russia. Tuvan houses are built from logs, featuring a square base and a pointed roof. During nomadic periods, they still live in yurts.
