Guide The area around the lake is open and gently undulating, with the lake surface as smooth as a mirror. In summer, flocks of wild ducks and geese inhabit and swim in the area. The surroundings and the northern part of the lake consist of marshy grasslands and vast meadows, where emerald-green grass encircles the mirror-like waters, creating a tranquil and picturesque scene. Highlight On the grassy highland near the river to the northwest of Duck Lake, there is a pile of stones, which is an “ovoo.” The Tuva people regularly hold worship ceremonies and celebrate the Ovoo Festival here, praying for the prosperity of their livestock and the safety of their families. Introduction Duck Lake is located within the Hemu-Kanas Mongolian Township, 142 kilometers south of the county seat. It is 1 kilometer from the Kanas Tuva Village and is accessible via asphalt and gravel roads. To the west lies the Kanas River, and the area is surrounded by dense forests. At an altitude of 1,350 meters, the lake has an elongated butterfly-like shape, forming a wide, shallow body of water extending north-south at the southern end of the depression. The lake covers an area of about 13,000 square meters, is 3 kilometers long, and 600–800 meters wide. The surrounding area is open and gently undulating, with the lake surface as smooth as a mirror. In summer, flocks of wild ducks and geese inhabit and reproduce in the area.
