Altay Grassland

Altay Grassland is located in a mountainous intermontane basin at the confluence of the Kanas River and the Hemu River in Burqin County, with an elevation ranging from 1,124 to 2,300 meters. The surrounding mountains are broad and have rounded summits, while many rivers have carved deep gorges, creating a complex terrain. The Hemu River runs from northeast to southwest through the area, dividing the grassland into two halves. The shady slopes of the mountains are covered with dense, lush forests where elk, marmots, and snowcocks make their homes. In contrast, the sunny slopes are blanketed with green grass and blooming flowers, filling the air with fragrance as bees gather nectar, while cattle and sheep roam freely across the vast expanse, presenting a captivating scene of the expansive grassland.
