The scenic area is located about forty kilometers north of Burqin County—right by the road to Kanas. Transportation is very convenient. White Sand Mountain is a silvery desert offering a range of recreational activities such as desert surfing, self-drive desert tours, sandboarding, and watching desert sunrises and sunsets. The desert adventure is rich and fun, full of wild charm. You can go hiking and exploring in this wild, silvery desert, or ride the “ships of the desert” while listening to the soothing sound of camel bells and admiring the vast desert landscape. If you're up for more, you can even camp out for a romantic experience under the open sky and on a bed of sand. Recently, new thrilling activities have been introduced, including “exciting desert surfing,” self-drive desert tours, and sliding down the singing sand dunes, among other projects that combine sports, leisure, and entertainment.

The White Sand Mountain Scenic Area was developed in June 2007 with an investment of 2 million yuan by Burqin White Sand Mountain Tourism Co., Ltd. Through trial operations in 2007, it was confirmed that the desert tourism projects gained wide recognition among visitors and attracted considerable attention. Starting in 2008, the company gradually invested a total of 5 million yuan in three phases to further develop the White Sand Mountain Tourist Area, enhancing its facilities and improving the environment. New tourism activities were added, including desert surfing vehicles, self-drive desert tours, desert camel rides, sandboarding on the singing sand dunes, desert foot therapy, and desert exploration.
