Pingshuo Coal Industry Company

Pingshuo Coal Industry Company is currently China’s largest open-pit coal enterprise. Established in 1982, it is one of the 512 large-scale state-owned enterprises in the country. In June 1997, the former Ministry of Coal Industry incorporated it into the China National Coal Industry Import and Export Group Corporation, making it a wholly-owned subsidiary of the group. The company directly manages one production and operation mine (Pit No. 1 at Pingshuo Open-Pit Coal Mine), owns and manages one development and construction mine (Anjialing Open-Pit Coal Mine), one planned mine (Dong Open-Pit Coal Mine), and several specialized companies. The enterprise has approximately 10,000 employees, total assets of about 11 billion yuan, transported 17 million tons of commercial coal in 2001, exported 9 million tons of washed coal, and generated 260 million US dollars in foreign exchange through exports. Its products include three major series—washed clean coal, washed blended coal, and washed raw coal—with over ten varieties. The exported washed coal is sold to 17 countries and regions across Europe and Asia, making it an important base for the production and export of commercial coal in China.
