Muztagh Ata Peak is a cultural tourism attraction.

Guide With an elevation of 7,546 meters, Muztagh Ata Peak is located at the border between Aketao County and Taxkorgan County. Its name in Tajik means "Father of the Ice Mountain" and it is a famous mountaineering destination as well as a necessary stop on the way from Kashgar to the Khunjerab Pass. Introduction Legend has it that a snow mountain princess lived on Muztagh Ata Peak. She was in love with the snow mountain prince from the neighboring Qogir Peak (8,116 meters), the world’s second highest peak. The wicked Heavenly King was displeased upon learning of their love and used his divine staff to split the two connected peaks apart, separating the devoted lovers. Heartbroken, the snow mountain princess missed her prince day and night, and her tears flowed endlessly, eventually forming the glaciers that descend from the peak. On clear days, the snow-capped summit accompanied by the glaciers stretching down to the snow line resembles the princess’s flowing white dress and long sleeves.

Muztagh Ata Peak is majestic, solemn, and pure. With such a beautiful legend associated with it, the Tajik people regard it as a symbol of pure love. Transportation Buses traveling from Kashgar to the Khunjerab Pass pass by Muztagh Ata Peak.
