Creating myths is the specialty of the people of Karamay. Amid the cheers of oil bursting forth from the ancient wilderness, they built the most habitable city on the Gobi Desert, then went further to turn those myths into wonders—bringing clear water from far away to nourish the city’s heart, transforming wilderness into fertile fields, and turning barren Gobi into green homes—this is the Ecological Leisure and Fitness Park.

The Ecological Leisure and Fitness Park is located between West Ring Road, Hongyan Road, and Yonghong Road. In front of the park’s entrance, there are several piles of bricks, stones, and sand, where seven workers are busy constructing. Upon entering the gate, you’ll see a seven-a-side soccer field straight ahead, five sheltered indoor-outdoor gateball courts to the right, and eight basketball courts to the left—including two dedicated courts for children. At the time, two young men were playing basketball on one of the courts.

It is reported that this newly built sports park in Karamay, which serves as a model, not only offers activity areas for soccer, basketball, badminton, roller skating, and other sports favored by youths and children, but also includes walking paths, fitness plazas, chess and card corridors, and outdoor fitness trails for the elderly to exercise and relax.

Aside from the essential sports facilities of a sports park, green ecology is another highlight of the leisure and fitness park. Throughout the park, lush green lawns stretch out as far as the eye can see, dotted with clusters of artificially maintained flowers such as marigolds. According to staff from the Karamay District Culture and Sports Bureau, the entire park covers an area of approximately 130,000 square meters, with green space accounting for about 62%.

As planned, the fitness park includes a Health Guidance Center equipped with instruments such as a body composition analyzer, cardiovascular (arteriosclerosis) tester, bone density tester, cardiopulmonary function tester (power bike), spine tester, balance ability tester, sub-health tester, blood pressure monitor, blood glucose analyzer, and a national physique testing system. Without the need for medical blood tests, individuals can complete a full set of tests in about 20 minutes using these devices, ultimately obtaining personal physical measurement and assessment data. Based on these test results, the computer software at the Health Guidance Center will automatically generate a suitable health and exercise guidance plan. It is understood that this functionality is suitable not only for individuals but also for group (organizational) overall analysis reports.

In addition, the Ecological Leisure and Fitness Park has one reception and service hall (including administrative offices), two sports venue service centers, one property management office, and two guard rooms.
