Explore island getaways to Clark, the Little America — Direct flights starting from just 488 RMB one-way

Asia’s leading low-cost airline AirAsia has spotted business opportunities in southern Taiwan. In addition to the recently launched Kaohsiung-Cebu route set to begin on August 1, the airline officially launched the Kaohsiung-Clark route on the same day, with initial one-way prices starting from just 488 RMB before tax, giving southern Taiwanese more options for exploring the Philippine islands.

Whether transferring to domestic flights from Clark to destinations such as Palawan, Coron, or Iloilo, or immersing yourself in the charm of Clark, known as the “Little America,” AirAsia currently operates two international routes from Kaohsiung: Kaohsiung-Kuala Lumpur and Kaohsiung-Manila. After August, the “Kaohsiung-Cebu” route will be added. Since its presale in mid-May, this route has been selling out quickly even before its launch, reflecting the strong interest of southern Taiwanese in island nations.

The “Taipei-Clark” route, which has been in operation since July last year, also maintains an average load factor of over 80% per flight, making it popular among business travelers and budget-conscious tourists. As the only airline offering direct flights from Taiwan to Clark, AirAsia is very optimistic about the potential of the “Kaohsiung-Clark” route.

Clark is located in northern Manila, Philippines. Formerly a U.S. Air Force base, it is known as “Little America,” with both its architecture and restaurants reflecting a distinct American military style. In 1999, the Philippines designated Clark as a special economic zone and transformed it into the country’s “Green City.” It is just over an hour’s drive from the capital Manila and the tourist destination Subic Bay.

The newly launched “Kaohsiung-Clark” route on August 1 is AirAsia’s 13th international route and the 4th international route from Kaohsiung. Tickets officially went on sale at 12 PM on May 29, with initial one-way prices starting from just 488 RMB before tax. Flights can be booked from the inaugural date through October 26, 2019, with the first flight scheduled for August 1.
