Hui Ethnic Museum

The Hui Ethnic Museum is the cultural foundation and artistic essence of the China Hui Culture Park. It is the only museum in China themed around Hui culture, officially approved by the National Cultural Heritage Administration. The architectural design and decoration draw inspiration from the classic styles of outstanding Islamic architecture, perfectly blending modern elements with ancient traditions, highlighting the dual yet unified Islamic cultural charm of the Chinese Hui people. Its layout is designed in the shape of the Chinese character “回” (Hui), covering an area of 6,000 square meters. It houses six exhibition halls (five display rooms and one auditorium) and four functional rooms (storage room, office, reception room, and exchange room), serving four main functions: exhibition display, collection preservation, research and exchange, and visitor reception.

The Hui Ethnic Museum comprehensively showcases five major themes: the historical and cultural origins of the Chinese Hui people, the development of Islamic civilization, the formation of the Chinese Hui ethnic group and its unique cultural customs, the important contributions of the Hui people to Chinese civilization through adaptation and progress, and the formation and evolution of the Hui ethnic group in Ningxia. It integrates knowledge, interest, and science, embedding education within appreciation. Its establishment fills a gap in the systematic exhibition of Hui history and culture in China and promotes the development of ethnic culture and cultural tourism sites in western China.
