Yongning Old Street is a famous historical and cultural street in China. Established in the early Ming Dynasty with the founding of Yongning Wei, Yongning Old Street served as the central axis of Yongning Wei City. By the late Qing Dynasty and early Republican period, it had evolved into a sizable commercial street, giving rise to many legendary businesses. Though history has long passed and few people today know much about Yongning, arriving here makes you realize just how prosperous it used to be. Strolling along the old street during the day, you’ll see a scattering of small shops and exquisitely carved foreign-style buildings. At night, the soulful melodies of Nanyin music drift from the street, pleasing to the ear and moving to the heart. It’s as if you’ve traveled back to the Republican era, revisiting history within the old street. A truly tranquil old street.
