Huoshizhai Grottoes

The Huoshizhai Grottoes are a cultural relic protection unit of the Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region.

The Huoshizhai Grottoes are located in Huoshizhai Township, Xiji County, Guyuan City, and date back to the Song Dynasty.

On September 15, 2005, the Huoshizhai Grottoes were designated as part of the third batch of Autonomous Region-level Cultural Relics Protection Units.

Huoshizhai Township: Huoshizhai Township is located 23 kilometers northwest of Xiji County, adjacent to Xinying, Baiya, and Jiqiang Towns. It covers a total area of 163 square kilometers, with 48,000 mu of arable land. It is a dry and impoverished mountainous area, home to unique "Danxia landforms," and has been named a "National Geopark" and "National Forest Park." It is also a national 3A-level tourist attraction. The township administers 12 administrative villages, 76 villager groups, and has a total population of 2,700 households and 14,760 people, among whom the Hui ethnic group accounts for 76% of the population.
