The Revolutionary Site of Jiangtai Fort

The Revolutionary Site of Jiangtai Fort is a National Key Cultural Relics Protection Unit.

Jiangtai Fort is located 30 kilometers south of Xiji County in Guyuan City, Ningxia. It is a small town with a long history. The name "Jiangtai Fort" is said, according to folklore, to come from the legendary female general Mu Guiying, who once mustered her troops and built a platform here.

The Monument to the Red Army’s Meeting at Jiangtai Fort was built in October 1996 to commemorate the victorious convergence of the three main forces of the Red Army during the Long March on October 22, 1936, and to mark the 60th anniversary of the Long March. It was expanded and renovated in 2006. The monument is situated on the eastern side outside Jiangtai Fort, facing east, and consists of three parts: the base, the main body, and the top. It stands 26.36 meters tall. The front of the monument bears 16 golden characters inscribed by Comrade Jiang Zemin that read “Monument to the Meeting of the Chinese Workers’ and Peasants’ Red Army at Jiangtai Fort During the Long March.” The back features an inscription written by the Xiji County Committee and Government of the CPC. The top of the monument is carved with three busts of Red Army soldiers, symbolizing the successful meeting of the three main forces. The lower part of the monument's body is decorated with eight bas-reliefs representing key victories in the Chinese revolution. Behind the monument lies an earthen fort, measuring 70 meters east-west and 68 meters north-south, with walls 10 meters high. The fort gate is located on the southern side and is inlaid with three large characters inscribed by Mr. Bo Yibo.
