Nuomuhong Ruins

The Nuomuhong Ruins are a cultural tourism attraction.

Introduction: Nuomuhong is a newly discovered ancient cultural relic and also the westernmost excavation site in Qinghai’s archaeological history. Its cultural content features unique characteristics, giving its discovery significant standing in archaeology. The Nuomuhong ruins are located in the southern part of Qinghai’s Qaidam Basin, covering an area of approximately fifty thousand square meters.

This site consists of three small sand dunes arranged in a triangular pattern, forming a natural plaza between them. In addition to architectural remains, various stone and bone tools as well as pottery household items have been unearthed. Woolen textiles and a variety of pottery vessels have also been found. Among the artifacts are bone flutes, bone whistles, and pottery yaks. According to carbon dating, the site dates back to around 2,900 years ago, corresponding to the Western Zhou Dynasty.
