With the rapid development of the ice and snow tourism industry, the industries and business opportunities behind ice and snow resources are becoming increasingly prominent, forming a “platinum” value chain. To better promote the development of ice and snow tourism, today the consultative meeting for the establishment of the World Cities Ice and Snow Tourism Cooperation Organization, an international organization proposed by Harbin with a theme of ice and snow tourism cooperation, was held at the Harbin Huqi Hotel.
Representatives from 34 cities in 20 countries across the world gathered in Harbin to discuss the establishment of the World Cities Ice and Snow Tourism Cooperation Organization, aiming to advance the global ice and snow tourism industry. Once established, the organization will promote ice and snow tourism activities among member cities; help member cities find partners and build platforms for collaboration in ice and snow tourism; showcase tourism facilities such as hotels, restaurants, and transportation services in member cities; award the title of “World Ice and Snow Sculpture Master” under the organization’s name, rank major international ice and snow festivals, and designate “World Ice and Snow Tourism Cities”; and organize exhibitions and trade fairs for related industries and products in ice and snow tourism.
Lin Duo, Deputy Secretary of the Harbin Municipal Party Committee and Mayor, said in his speech that the initiative to establish the World Cities Ice and Snow Tourism Cooperation Organization aims to gather outstanding global ice and snow cultures and create a platform for mutual learning, benchmarking, complementing strengths, and resource sharing among cities. This will foster exchanges and cooperation in ice and snow tourism among cities worldwide, promote the common development of the ice and snow tourism industry, and usher in a bright future for global ice and snow tourism. Harbin is willing to make greater efforts toward this goal.
At the meeting, attendees listened to the vision and relevant information presented by Harbin regarding the proposal to establish the World Cities Ice and Snow Tourism Cooperation Organization and engaged in in-depth discussions on the initiative. Attendees expressed their active support for Harbin’s proposal and willingness to participate as founding members in the organization’s establishment. It was introduced that after its formation, the headquarters of the World Cities Ice and Snow Tourism Cooperation Organization is planned to be located in Harbin, where permanent office space has been reserved. Following this meeting, a preparatory committee for the World Ice and Snow Tourism Cooperation Organization will be formed, with Harbin, China, serving as the leading city. The committee plans to include Edmonton (Canada), Khabarovsk (Russia), Rovaniemi (Finland), and Minneapolis (USA) as member cities of the preparatory committee.
