Purple Mountain Observatory
The Qinghai Station of the Purple Mountain Observatory was established in the early 1980s, located next to Bai Gong Mountain in Delingha at an altitude of 3,200 meters. It is also known as the Delingha Astronomical Observation Base. The Qinghai Station houses a 13.7-meter diameter astronomical telescope here, making it China’s only millimeter-wave observation station. Delingha’s high elevation and excellent air transparency make it one of Asia’s most ideal locations for astronomical observation.
