Haixi Prefecture Ethnic Museum

The Haixi Mongol and Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture Ethnic Museum is located in the city center of Delingha. Completed in June 1994, it has a total construction area of 3,550 square meters and houses three exhibition halls—agricultural and pastoral resources, mineral resources, and historical relics—covering a combined area of 2,000 square meters.

The agricultural and pastoral resources hall vividly presents the abundant agricultural and pastoral resources of the Qaidam Basin and their development over time; the mineral resources hall displays the region’s rich mineral wealth—earning the Qaidam Basin its nickname as the “treasure basin”—along with the achievements of its development and construction; the historical relics hall exhibits historical and folk artifacts collected from across the prefecture in recent years, testifying to the long history of the Qaidam Basin. In particular, the Nuomuhong site provides evidence of the area’s ancient history and splendid culture. The currently displayed relics mainly include rock paintings, stone carvings, pottery shards, stone knives, stone axes, ancient needles, textiles from the Tang Dynasty, and bronze vessels.

Since its establishment, the museum has received over 20,000 visitors and has played an active role in promoting the history and culture of Haixi Prefecture, fostering unity and progress among the prefecture’s ethnic groups, and contributing to the region’s development.
