Menyuan Hundred-Mile Rapeseed Flower Sea Scenic Area

The Menyuan Hundred-Mile Rapeseed Flower Sea Scenic Area is a national AAAA-level tourist attraction.

The rapeseed flowers of Menyuan are located in Menyuan County, Haibei Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, Qinghai Province. As a major oil-producing region in Qinghai and the northwest, the rapeseed flowers here have become a beautiful and spectacular man-made landscape. Moreover, the planting area extends from Qingshizui by the Haomen River in the west to Yulongtan by the Datong River in the east, from the Lenglong Ridge bordering Gansu Province in the north to the towering Dabanshan Mountain in the south, stretching for dozens of kilometers. In summer, stepping into Menyuan Hui Autonomous County in Qinghai is like entering a naturally formed oil painting.

As a national AAAA-level tourist attraction, it is the largest rapeseed flower sea in China, the birthplace of northern China’s small rapeseed variety, and an important production base for bee products in the country, with contiguous planting covering over 300,000 mu. Each year, the “land art” landscapes arranged with highland barley and rapeseed become a showcase window for the spectacular flower seas, widely favored by tourists. As a result, the Hundred-Mile Rapeseed Flower Sea Scenic Area has successively earned honors such as “China’s Most Beautiful Rapeseed Flower Sea,” “China’s Most Beautiful Grassland,” and “Top Ten Most Breathtaking Flower Seas in the World.”

Haomen Town: Haomen Town is located in the southern part of the county, on the north bank of the Datong River, and serves as the seat of the county government.
