On June 4, the 2nd China Qinghai Gangshika Ski Mountaineering Exchange Conference opened at the foot of the beautiful Gangshika Snow Mountain in Menyuan Hui Autonomous County. The spectacular performances by over forty ski mountaineering enthusiasts from across the country became the focus of attention, and a horse team active around the athletes also won loud applause.
This horse team is the tourism horse team of Menyuan Hui Autonomous County, Haibei Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture. Ma Defu, the team leader, told reporters that after the first Gangshika Ski Mountaineering Conference was held last year, they found that some of the participants' heavy equipment had to be transported to the mountaintop by horseback. However, villagers provided pack horses sporadically, and due to their lack of experience, issues often arose.
Seeing this situation, Ma Defu thought to himself: in recent years, tourism in Menyuan has been booming, with countless visitors coming here every year. If a horse team were established, it could not only provide relevant services to these tourists, but also help transport equipment for participants during the Gangshika Ski Mountaineering Conference, while increasing villagers’ income. With this in mind, at his call, six households from Xiadiagou Village in Qingshizui Town, Menyuan County, formed a tourism horse team with 12 horses.
During this ski mountaineering conference, after coordinating with the provincial sports bureau and other departments, they became the official horse team for the event. The daily wage of 300 yuan per horse satisfied the villagers. Ma Defu said that during the event, every morning they would transport some of the participants’ equipment up to the mountaintop, and at the same time, bring down any litter left on the summit for proper disposal.
Ma Defu said that going forward, the horse team will uphold honesty as its foundation, backed by the integrity and kindness of the people of Menyuan, to provide high-quality service to tourists, striving to become a brand of Menyuan tourism.
