The Bai Tu Village Site

The Bai Tu Village Site is a cultural heritage protection unit of Qinghai Province.

The Bai Tu Village Site

It is located in Bai Tu Village, Dejia Township, Hualong Hui Autonomous County. The site covers an area of approximately 80×80 meters, with a cultural deposit thickness ranging from 30 to 150 centimeters. Part of the site lies beneath the village, and pottery shards are scattered across the ground, with ash pits exposed along the cliff edges. In the eastern part of the site, there is a V-shaped ash ditch over 20 meters long and 1.5 meters wide. Both the ash pits and the ash ditch contain large quantities of pottery shards, crushed stones, animal bones, and scattered stone tools. All the pottery shards found here are relics of the Kayue culture. Among them, those allowing identification of vessel shapes include sand-tempered plain double-handled jars, abdominal-handled jars, large-mouthed urns, dou (food vessels), and li (tripod cauldrons). Stone tools include stone grinding plates, disc-shaped implements, and stone axes. This site is a provincial-level cultural heritage protection unit.
