Dala Site

The Dala Site is a cultural heritage protection unit of Qinghai Province.

It is situated about 200 meters south of Lagongma Village, Heicheng Township, Hualong Hui Autonomous County. Dala is a spur terrace on the foothills of a major mountain range. The site is bordered by the Dasagou Sandy Gully to the east and west, connected to mountainous terrain to the south, and backed by a hillside to the north. It covers an area of approximately 200×120 meters, with cultural deposits 30–130 cm thick. The surface is scattered with pottery fragments, animal bones, and river pebbles. Exposed sections along the cliff reveal ash layers and pits, which contain numerous pottery shards, animal bones, and red-fired earth blocks. The pottery fragments found are all from the Kayue Culture, including unpainted or decorated sand-tempered pottery such as jars, pots, basins, and urns with either plain surfaces or corded, punctate, or appliqué patterns. There are also a few fragments of painted double-handled jars featuring meander designs. The site was slightly disturbed during land leveling, affecting the overlying soil and upper cultural layers. It is a provincial-level cultural heritage protection unit.
