The San Chuan Yellow River Water Conservancy Scenic Area is a national water conservancy scenic area.

The San Chuan Yellow River Water Conservancy Scenic Area is located in Minhe County, Haidong Prefecture, Qinghai Province, at the border between Gansu and Qinghai provinces. It is built along the Yellow River and relies on the hydroelectric power stations of the Yellow River cascade, including the Bingling and Jishi Gorges. This scenic area is classified as a natural river-lake type water conservancy scenic zone, covering an area of 205 square kilometers, with 25 square kilometers of water surface. The San Chuan area of Minhe is the last section of the Yellow River flowing through Qinghai Province and one of the regions richest in ecological resources in the province. The scenic area is renowned for its unique natural landscapes, such as the majestic Yellow River currents, peach blossoms at the gorges, apricot rains in San Chuan, sunset over the mountain town, and danxia landforms. It also boasts a wealth of religious temples from different historical periods, numerous villages inhabited by ethnic groups including the Tu, Hui, Tibetan, and Han, and a rich diversity of religious and folk cultures that are highly attractive. Guanting Town is a nationally recognized historical and cultural town, and the Lajia Site has been listed among China’s top ten archaeological discoveries, making it a true treasure trove of historical and cultural heritage. The seamless integration of natural, historical, and cultural landscapes within the scenic area creates excellent conditions for water conservancy tourism, offering tremendous development potential.
