Yuanping Hutuo River Water Conservancy Scenic Area

The Yuanping Hutuo River Water Conservancy Scenic Area is a national AAA-level tourist attraction and a national water conservancy scenic area.

The Yuanping Hutuo River Water Conservancy Scenic Area is located in Yuanping City, Xinzhou, and was built based on the comprehensive management project of the Hutuo River and the Youlou Mountain River Barrage Project. It is classified as a natural river-lake type water conservancy scenic area. The scenic area consists of two parts: the Hutuo River Scenic Area and the Tianya Mountain Scenic Area, covering a total area of 16.86 square kilometers, including 4.43 square kilometers of water area. The comprehensive management project of the Hutuo River is a key initiative of Yuanping to expand the city and enhance its beauty, aiming to create a harmonious and livable home. The Youlou Mountain River Barrage Project is one of the ten new water source projects newly constructed under Shanxi Province’s “Two Verticals and Ten Horizontals” major water network plan. The Tianya Mountain Scenic Area is themed around the spirit of “loyalty and filial piety” of Ji Zi Tui, a historical figure from the Spring and Autumn period, organically integrating natural ecology with cultural experiences to build a first-class eco-leisure resort. The construction of the scenic area focuses on the organic combination of ecological restoration, landscape greening, and municipal development. Through the unified planning and comprehensive management of “mountains, water, embankments, roads, bridges, and scenery,” it achieves harmonious coexistence between humans and nature.
