Former Site of the Material Storage Depot for the Defense of Yuanping

The former site of the material storage depot for the defense of Yuanping is located on Dongying Liang in Dongying Village, Xinyuan Township, Yuanping City. Built in the 26th year of the Republic of China (1937), it was one of the military projects constructed by the Shanxi Nationalist Government in preparation for resisting the Japanese invasion. Warehouses No. 1 and No. 2 stand in a north-south row,

Each warehouse measures 21.2 meters in east-west length and 25 meters in north-south width, covering a total area of 530 square meters. The structure is of the trench type, buried about 6 meters underground, built with blue bricks and covered with 1.5 meters of yellow earth. The main tunnel has a height of 3.5 meters, a width of 3 meters, and a depth of 25 meters, with five branch tunnels on each side, each 8 meters deep. The tunnels were mainly used to store ammunition.
