Tangchang Stage

The Tangchang Stage, located in Tangchang Village, Guoyang Town, Yuanping City, has an unknown date of construction. In 1970, it was renovated to meet the recreational needs of local villagers. The stage faces north and is situated to the south, measuring 13 meters in east-west length and 10.4 meters in north-south width, covering a total area of 135 square meters. It features a stone foundation and a brick-and-wood structure, with a triple-triangle frame installed in the central bay. The top of the central bay is inscribed with six large characters reading “Serving Workers, Peasants, and Soldiers,” reflecting the structural characteristics of large-scale rural engineering projects in the 1970s and bearing distinct marks of the era. Tangchang Village: Located to the northwest of Guoyang Town, Tangchang Village covers an area of 2.5 square kilometers, with a total population of 700 people, 200 households, and an average per capita income of 4,257 yuan. The village has over 3,000 mu of arable land, and its economy is primarily based on farming, supplemented by animal husbandry.

Tangchang Village got its name because it is located in the semi-hilly area of the Loess Plateau, surrounded by slopes on all sides, sitting prominently above ponds, and shaped like a peach, hence originally called "Taorshang" (on the peach), and later also known as "Tangshang Village." By the time of Emperor Taizong Li Shimin’s northern military campaigns during the Zhenguan era of the Tang Dynasty, the Tang general Li Jing once stationed troops here. His army was known for its strict discipline, leaving no harm to the local populace, and treating the people with deep respect, as if they were family.
