Former Site of the Sanji Production Brigade

The former site of the Sanji Production Brigade is a cultural heritage site protected by Yuanping City.

The former site of the Sanji Production Brigade is located to the south of Sanji Village, Xizhen Township, Yuanping City. It faces south with its back to the west, stretching 114.7 meters from east to west and 56 meters from north to south, covering an area of 6,423 square meters. Built in 1971, it has a single-courtyard layout with a stage, wing rooms, and a main gate aligned along the central axis, and production brigade offices and storage rooms on both sides. The stage faces east with its back to the west, is 15.2 meters wide and 12 meters deep, topped with flat tiles, and features cement-relief five-pointed star sculptures on the parapet walls, with the inscriptions “Embrace the Motherland, Look to the World” on either side. The stage pillars are inscribed with “Long Live the Great Communist Party of China” and “Long Live the Great Chairman Mao.” Other buildings in the courtyard bear slogans such as “Grasp Revolution, Promote Production, Promote Work, Promote War Preparedness” and “March Forward Bravely Along the Proletarian Revolutionary Line of Chairman Mao.” The site exhibits distinct characteristics of its era and holds certain historical research value. Sanji Village: Sanji Village is situated on the plain, 13 kilometers northwest of the city proper, with geographical coordinates at 38°49’ north latitude and 112°40’ east longitude. According to inscriptions on a stele, there used to be a temple on Yanjia Street in the village in earlier times, which had a three-tiered tower. Every evening, lamps were lit atop the tower, creating a radiant view from afar. Once, a provincial governor from Shaanxi passed by at night, saw the lights, and exclaimed, “This must be the Three-Tier Village!” Hence the name “Three-Tier,” which later evolved into “Sanji.” The village has 643 households, a population of 2,136, and 4,857 mu of arable land, with an average per capita income of 3,300 yuan.
