The No. 1 Residence of the Wen Family in Wangdongshe

The No. 1 Residence of the Wen Family in Wangdongshe is located in Wangdongshe Village, Dongshe Town, Yuanping City. It faces south and has a northward orientation, measuring 13.5 meters in length from east to west and 23.6 meters in width from north to south, covering a total area of 319 square meters. Its exact date of construction is unknown, but the existing structure features architectural styles from the Qing Dynasty. The residence follows a traditional courtyard layout, with the main building and the entrance gate aligned along the central axis. On both sides are structures such as the Jixing Tower, side rooms, and wing rooms. The main house stands on a bluestone foundation, has a width of three bays, a depth of four rafters, and a five-rafter front porch framework, topped with a single-eave rolled shed roof. Wangdongshe Village: Located in a semi-hilly area, Wangdongshe Village lies 28 kilometers east of the city center. To the east of the village are numerous gullies and ridges, while to the west it borders the Tong River. Geographic coordinates: 38°42′N, 113°00′E. Legend has it that during the late Sui Dynasty, Chengtou Village in the town was an ancient city. This village was built to the east of that site, hence the name "Dongshe" (East Settlement). It later adopted the surname "Wang," which was predominant in the village, becoming "Wangdongshe." It also serves as the seat of the town government. The village has 684 households, a total population of 1,824, and 3,158 mu of agricultural land, mainly producing grain and pear and apple crops.
