Tianya Stone Drum Shrine

Tianya Stone Drum Shrine is a cultural heritage site protected by the Xinzhou Municipal Government.

Tianya Stone Drum Shrine (also known as the Stone Drum King Temple) is located at the foot of Tianya Mountain, about 100 meters southeast of Tingzhitou Village, Zigang Township, Yuanping City. It faces south with a northward orientation, measuring 42.9 meters in east-west length and 75.28 meters in north-south width, covering a total area of 3,230 square meters. The exact date of its initial construction is unknown. According to inscriptions within the temple, it was renovated in the third year of the Tianhui era of the Jin Dynasty (1125), rebuilt in the sixth year of the Chenghua era of the Ming Dynasty (1470), and repaired in the fifty-fourth year of the Qianlong era of the Qing Dynasty (1789). The existing structures all date back to the Ming and Qing dynasties. The shrine follows a two-courtyard layout, with the central axis featuring a memorial archway, a stage, an incense pavilion, the Hall of the King of Hell, and the main hall. On both sides are the bell and drum towers, as well as the east and west side halls. In the courtyard, there are three stone steles from the Ming Dynasty, 21 from the Qing Dynasty, a pair of stone lions, and two pairs of stone flagpoles. Tingzhitou Village: Tingzhitou Village is located about 8 kilometers east of Yuanping City proper, at the foot of Tianya Mountain, west of the Fuyang River and east of Tianya Mountain. It also houses the famous ancient Stone Drum Shrine. The surrounding area features attractions such as the Stone Figure Waterfall and Tianya Snow Sweep, making it a location with excellent geographical advantages.

Tingzhitou Village has a total of 219 households, with a registered population of 710 people, including 685 agricultural residents, among whom 200 are part of the labor force, and around 50 regularly work outside the village. The village covers a total of 1,526 mu of arable land, including 300 mu of irrigated land and 200 mu of dry land.
