The Screen Wall of the Yang Family’s No. 3 Courtyard in Shanghehe Village

The Screen Wall of the Yang Family’s No. 3 Courtyard in Shanghehe Village, located in the middle of Qianjie Street in Shanghehe Village, Guoyang Town, Yuanping City. It faces south and measures 3.9 meters in length, 4.5 meters in height, and 0.4 meters in thickness, covering an area of 10 square meters. The year of its construction is unknown. The courtyard has been demolished, leaving only the screen wall, which now exhibits architectural features of the Qing Dynasty. The upper part features imitation wood bracket sets with five “steps,” hanging decorative panels, and carved patterns. The lower section is composed of a base and floral embellishments, forming a well-proportioned and elegantly arranged composition. Shanghehe Village: Shanghehe Village is one of the 46 villages of Guoyang. It is situated 4.5 kilometers southeast of Guoyang Town, Yuanping City, Shanxi Province. The village has a total of 168 households and 536 residents, with 2,260 mu of arable land. The village enjoys a unique geographical location, bordered by National Highway 108 to the west (offering convenient transportation), the Yangwu River to the south, and the Hutuo River to the north—thus earning its name “Shanghehe” (meaning “Hutuo and Yang rivers embracing”).
