The Hushi'nao Site

The Hushi'nao Site is a cultural heritage protection site of Yuanping City.

The Hushi'nao Site is located on a terrace on the west bank of the Fuyang River, about 500 meters east of Tangchang Village, Guoyang Town, Yuanping City, with the Tangchang River to the south. It stretches approximately 500 meters from east to west, 300 meters from north to south, covering an area of about 15,000 square meters. The cultural layer is about 1.6 meters thick and belongs to the Longshan Culture remains. Fragments of gray pottery with clay body and sandy body have been collected from the ground, featuring decorative patterns such as rope patterns, and vessel shapes including pots, jars, and li tripods. Approximately 70 square meters were excavated in 1987. In 1985, it was designated as a county (city)-level cultural heritage protection site by the People’s Government of Yuanping City. Tangchang Village: Located in the northwest of Guoyang Town, Tangchang Village covers an area of 2.5 square kilometers. The village has a total population of 700 people, with 200 households, and an average per capita income of 4,257 yuan. It has over 3,000 acres of arable land, and the local economy is mainly based on farming supplemented by animal husbandry.

Tangchang Village was originally called "Taorshang" (literally “on the peach”) due to its location on the semi-hilly area of the Loess Plateau, surrounded by slopes, perched above the pond, and shaped like a peach. It was later also known as "Tangshang Village." By the time of Emperor Taizong Li Shimin’s northern expedition during the Zhenguan era of the Tang Dynasty, the Tang general Li Jing once stationed troops here. With strict military discipline, leaving no trace of disturbance, and treating the people with deep respect, the soldiers earned the gratitude of the locals.
