Zhongzhuang Stage

The Zhongzhuang Stage is a cultural heritage site protected by Yuanping City.

The Zhongzhuang Stage is located to the east of Zhongzhuang Village, Zhongyang Township, Yuanping City. It faces east, is 6 meters long from east to west, 7.3 meters wide from north to south, and has an area of 43.8 square meters. Its construction date is unknown. The inner walls record performances by opera troupes such as Wang Shunguo’s during the 25th year of the Guangxu reign (1899) and the 3rd year of the Xuantong reign (1911). The existing structure is in the Qing Dynasty style. It features three bays in width, four rafters in depth, a single-eave flush gable roof, and exquisite wooden carvings of two dragons playing with a pearl on the brackets of the central bay. The framework is adorned with painted designs.

Zhongzhuang Village: Located at the 18-kilometer mark along the former Bai Highway, about 18 kilometers northeast of Yuanping City, Zhongzhuang Village in Zhongyang Township, Yuanping City lies east of Wufeng Mountain and west of the Hutuo River, in a hilly region. The village has a population of 398 people, over 130 households, and a total of 204 laborers. The village spans more than 2,200 acres of land, with over 1,900 acres under cultivation and approximately 1,600 acres actively farmed, including 500 acres of orchards. The land here is not particularly fertile, with rolling hills and numerous ravines visible across the landscape.
