Qinggang Temple

Qinggang Temple is located at the foot of Phoenix Mountain, east of Fengtai Village in Yixing Town, about four kilometers east of the county town. Nestled against the mountain and facing the water, it enjoys a serene environment and is part of the “Unique Scenery of Fengtai,” one of the ten scenic spots of Heyi. It has been a popular destination for travelers throughout history. Due to its long history and years of neglect, the temple buildings have become dilapidated, stone inscriptions are scattered, and its original construction date remains unrecorded in historical texts. Fortunately, the architectural remnants are still relatively well-preserved. After an on-site investigation by Cai Zejun, a temple architecture expert from the Provincial Ancient Architecture Research Institute, it was determined that the main hall exhibits architectural characteristics from the Yuan Dynasty, suggesting it was built during that period, making it over 800 years old. Despite enduring the trials of time, natural erosion, and extensive damage—leaving it riddled with holes, worn surfaces, and an overall desolate appearance, with all statues missing—the overall structure remains intact and holds significant historical, scientific, and artistic value. It was designated as a provincial-level cultural heritage site in the 1950s. After the Cultural Revolution, in 1993, the county government re-listed it as a county-level cultural heritage site.
