The mountain is rugged and majestic, characterized by a subtropical rainforest climate with abundant rainfall and ample sunshine, creating unique natural scenery. Its distinctive climate has fostered special distributions of flora and fauna. The extraordinary natural landscape, rich biodiversity, and well-preserved ecosystem make it a rare and precious natural gene bank.

At elevations between 2,360 and 2,500 meters within the dense highland forests, numerous wild ancient tea trees grow, forming mixed communities of ancient tea trees and broadleaf forests. These wild tea trees are all arbor-type, tall and lush, with trunks covered in moss and entwined with vines, typically measuring 0.2 to 0.5 meters in diameter. At an altitude of 2,380 meters in the Ancient Tea Grove (known in Lahu as Ladi Luoga), there is the largest known ancient tea tree discovered so far. Measurements show it stands 20 meters tall, with a breast height diameter of 0.56 meters, a circumference of 1.90 meters, and a crown spread of 78.5 square meters. Walking through the forest, one can frequently spot these ancient, towering wild tea trees and catch the distinct fragrance of pure ecological tea. Preliminary surveys indicate that the wild ancient tea tree community in Lafu Dahei Mountain, Menglian, covers an area of about 2,500 acres. Local Lahu people climb these tall wild tea trees every spring to pick tender leaves, which they process and drink. The tea has a fragrant, sweet aftertaste and is believed to have cooling, thirst-quenching, detoxifying, stomach-strengthening, and anti-aging benefits.
